The Nutrafin Phosphate Test Kit (0.0-1.0 mg/L) measures phosphate levels in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. Phosphate levels should be checked weekly. High phosphate levels are often caused by overfeeding or infrequent water changes, and can lead to algae blooms. Thus, the phosphate level should generally not exceed 1 mg/L.
