HISTORY OF THE TOY: Orangutans used to be found in the forests across Sumatra, but they now only survive in two provinces: North Sumatra and Aceh. Females never travel on the ground, and males very rarely do so. The relentless destruction of Sumatran's rainforests has brought the Sumatran orangutan to the brink of extinction. There are now only about 13,846 left in the wild.
